The LM34917A Step-Down Switching Regulator features allthe functions needed to implement a low cost, efficient, buckbias regulator capable of supplying at least 1.25A to the load.To reduce excessive switch current due to the possibility of asaturating inductor the valley current limit threshold changeswith input and output voltages, and the on-time is reducedwhen current limit is detected. This buck regulator containsan N-Channel Buck Switch, and is available in the 12 pin microSMD package. The constant on-time feedback regulationscheme requires no loop compensation, results in fast loadtransient response, and simplifies circuit implementation. Theoperating frequency remains constant with line and load variationsdue to the inverse relationship between the input voltageand the on-time. The valley current limit results in asmooth transition from constant voltage to constant currentmode when current limit is detected, reducing the frequencyand output voltage, without the use of foldback. Additionalfeatures include: VCC under-voltage lock-out, input over-voltageshutdown, thermal shutdown, gate drive under-voltagelock-out, and maximum duty cycle limit.
