The  MPY600  is  a  wide-bandwidth  four-quadrantsignal  multiplier.  Its  output  voltage  is  equal  to  thealgebraic  product  of  the  X  and  Y  input  voltages.  Forsignals  up  to  30MHz,  the  on-board  output  op  ampprovides  the  complete  multiplication  function  with  alow-impedance  voltage  output.  Differential  currentoutputs  extend  multiplier  bandwidth  to  75MHz.The  MPY600  offers  improved  performance  comparedto  common  semiconductor  modulator  or  multipliercircuits.  It  can  be  used  for  both  two-quadrant  (voltagecontrolledamplifier)  and  four-quadrant  (doublebalanced)applications.  While  previous  devicesrequired  cumbersome  circuitry  for  trimming,  balanceand  level-shifting,  the  MPY600  requires  no  externalcomponents.  A  single  external  resistor  can  be  used  toprogram  the  conversion  gain  for  optimum  spuriousfreedynamic  range.  When  used  as  a  modulator,  carrierfeedthrough  measures  –60dB  at  5MHz.Differential  X,  Y  and  Z  inputs  can  be  connected  in  avariety  of  useful  configurations,  including  squarer,divider,  and  square-rooter  circuits.  The  MPY600  isavailable  in  16-pin  plastic  DIP,  specified  for  the  industrialtemperature  range.
