The  AD808  acquires  frequency  and  phase  lock  on  input  datausing  two  control  loops  that  work  without  requiring  externalcontrol.  The  frequency  acquisition  control  loop  initially  acquiresthe  frequency  of  the  input  data,  acquiring  frequency  lock  onrandom  or  scrambled  data  without  the  need  for  a  preamble.  Atfrequency  lock,  the  frequency  error  is  zero  and  the  frequencydetector  has  no  further  effect.  The  phase  acquisition  controlloop  then  works  to  ensure  that  the  output  phase  tracks  the  inputphase.  A  patented  phase  detector  has  virtually  eliminated  patternjitter  throughout  the  AD808.
