The  ISL62870  IC  is  a  Single-Phase  Synchronous-BuckPWM  voltage  regulator  featuring  Intersil’s  Robust  RippleRegulator  (R3)  Technology™.  The  ISL62870  provides  a  lowcost  solution  for  compact  high  performance  applications.Thewide  3.3V  to  25V  input  voltage  range  is  ideal  for  systemsthat  run  on  battery  or  AC  adapter  power  sources.  Resistorprogrammed  output  voltage  setpoint  and  capacitorprogrammed  soft-start  delay  allow  for  fast  and  easyimplementation.  Robust  integrated  MOSFET  drivers  andSchottky  bootstrap  diode  reduce  the  implementation  area  andlower  component  cost.Intersil’s  R3  Technology™  combines  the  best  features  ofboth  fixed-frequency  and  hysteretic  PWM  control.  The  PWMfrequency  is  300kHz  during  static  operation,  becomingvariable  during  changes  in  load,  setpoint  voltage,  and  inputvoltage  when  changing  between  battery  and  AC  adapterpower.  The  modulators  ability  to  change  the  PWM  switchingfrequency  during  these  events  in  conjunction  with  externalloop  compensation  produces  superior  transient  response.For  maximum  efficiency,  the  converter  automatically  entersdiode-emulation  mode  (DEM)  during  light-load  conditionssuch  as  system  standby.
