This application note is a guide to help users understand thefunction of Analog Devices iCouplers under various powersupply conditions. Also discussed are the details of calculatingsupply current consumption and power dissipation.iCoupler products offer an alternative isolation solution tooptocouplers with superior integration, performance, andpower consumption characteristics. An iCoupler isolationchannel consists of CMOS input and output circuits and a chipscaletransformer (Figure 1). In all applications, an iCoupler ispowered by two separate sources which do not share a commonground. Various scenarios must be considered during design toensure that all powered states are understood.
