These  devices  combine  three  popular  functions,  PoweronReset  Control,  Supply  Voltage  Supervision,  and  BlockLock  Protect  Serial  EEPROM  Memory  in  one  package.This  combination  lowers  system  cost,  reduces  boardspace  requirements,  and  increases  reliability.Applying  power  to  the  device  activates  the  power-onreset  circuit  which  holds  RESET/RESET  active  for  aperiod  of  time.  This  allows  the  power  supply  and  oscillatorto  stabilize  before  the  processor  can  execute  code.The  device’s  low  VCC  detection  circuitry  protects  theuser’s  system  from  low  voltage  conditions  by  holdingRESET/RESET  active  when  VCC  falls  below  a  minimumVCC  trip  point.  RESET/RESET  remains  asserted  untilVCC  returns  to  proper  operating  level  and  stabilizes.  Fiveindustry  standard  VTRIP  thresholds  are  available,however,  Intersil’s  unique  circuits  allow  the  threshold  tobe  reprogrammed  to  meet  custom  requirements  or  tofine-tune  the  threshold  in  applications  requiring  higherprecision.
