One of the many features of the PLS153 isthe availability of individually controlled3-State I/O pins. Taking advantage of thisfeature, a Schmitt trigger may be constructedusing one input pin, two bidirectional I/O pinsand additional components of three resistors.The two threshold voltages, as well as thehysterisis, are determined by the values ofthe three resistors and the parameters of thePLS153 device, which are 1) input thresholdvoltage, VTH, 2) High output voltage, VOH,and 3) Low output voltage, VOL. The circuitmay be simplified if Schmitt function isneeded only on Low going High or High goingLow, and if the hysterisis and thresholdvoltages are not important.
