The Mobility Solutions Low End eCS hardware consists of 1 server and supporting hardware mounted in a standard 5ESS 6 post frame. Individual components are described in more detail below. CC – This is the Sun Microsystems Netra t1400 server. Each contains a quad 440MHz Ultra Sparc II CPU with 4MB cache, 4GB SDRAM, 4 36GB disk drives, DDS-3 tape drive, 2 quad fast ethernet cards, and Solaris OS. The servers also contain a Lights Out Management (LOM) system which can be used for external monitoring and control of the server, including manual power cycling. SS7 hardware interface support is provided by the PCI circuit packs mounted in the Netra t1400.LMT workstation – This is a Sun Microsystems workstation, used for the console and LMT display functions based on ethernet connectivity. It should be mounted in a location within the cable distance of the ethernet cables provided (100ft), but can be connected through the customer LAN if required. The workstation is a SunBlade 100. The LMT workstation is not mounted in the frame but requires a stable desk or table with AC power and adequate lighting.MPDU – This modular power distribution unit provides the cabinet with the DC power input and shelf power distribution. It mounts in the fuse / filter location in the top of the frame. It provides direct battery plant input power connections and provides individual shelf fused power outputs. This unit eliminates the need for a separate cabinet for the GPDU, while providing a more robust shelf fusing system. SS7 Interface card –The SS7 card used is the Adax. This card is software selectable between T1 and E1 configurations. The cards use T1/E1 cables with standard RJ45 shielded connectors. This interface supports channelized SS7. The card is equipped with 4 ports but only one is used. (port 3).Terminal Server – This is a Digi International component used for the conversion of RS232 serial signalling to ethernet. The console port and the alarm port of the CC unit are co0nnected via RS232 to the serial ports of the terminal server. The ethernet port of the terminals server is connected to the customer LAN for remote access to both of the sertial ports.Power is delivered to the frame over a single power wire pair. This pair connects to the MPDU A side input connectors. Power to the Netra t1400 is provided through the MPDU output connector A1. The SS7 cabling is shielded twisted pair cable with an RJ45 connector on the Netra end, and a stub end on the DSX bay end to allow the wires to be punched down. Ethernet connections are made to the quad port interface cards in the Netra unit. A single RS232 cable is connected to the Netra serial port A, which is directly connected to the LMT workstation serial port by shielded cable. This RS232 cable is limited to 50 cable feet in length.
