The  LTC®4217  is  an  integrated  solution  for  Hot  Swap™applications  that  allows  a  board  to  be  safely  inserted  andremoved  from  a  live  backplane.  The  part  integrates  a  HotSwap  controller,  power  MOSFET  and  current  sense  resistorin  a  single  package  for  small  form  factor  applications.  Adedicated  12V  version  (LTC4217-12)  contains  preset  12Vspecifi  c  thresholds,  while  the  standard  LTC4217  allowsadjustable  thresholds.The  LTC4217  provides  separate  inrush  current  controland  an  accurate  (5%)  2A  current  limit  with  current  foldbacklimiting.  The  current  limit  threshold  can  be  adjusteddynamically  using  an  external  pin.  Additional  featuresinclude  a  current  monitor  output  that  amplifi  es  the  senseresistor  voltage  for  ground  referenced  current  sensingand  a  MOSFET  temperature  monitor  output.  Thermal  limit,overvoltage,  undervoltage  and  powergood  monitoring  arealso  provided.
