Historically. video designers have used coaxialcables to route and transmit composite video signalsover distances up to several hundred feet(l 100 meters). In the last few years, however,telephone lines such as twisted pairs have beenused successfully in local area networks to transmitdata between data terminals and computers.Techniques similar to these may be used by videodesigners who want to trade the cost of a coaxialcable for the more cost effective twisted pair. Forexample, RG59 is currently priced at 20 to 25cents per foot; whereas, a twisted pair cable isunder 10 cents a foot.
