Applying Ultrasonic Proximity Sensors

                      The  ultrasonic  sensor  emits  a  sound  beamin  a  beam  angle  cone  that  eliminates  sidelobes.  Target  size  versus  beam  spot  size  isimportant.  Theoretically,  the  smallest  detectabletarget  is  one  half  the  wavelength  of  theultrasonic  signal.  At  215  kHz,  the  signalwavelength  is  0.063N.  Under  ideal  conditions,these  sensors  are  capable  of  sensingtargets  as  small  as  0.032N.  Targets  usuallyare  larger,  and  are  sensed  at  various  distances.In  order  to  estimate  the  area  coveredby  the  ultrasonic  signal  at  a  given  distance,use  the  formula.
