The one-shot consists of a PLC42VA12 andan external clock which may be part of thesystem in which this one-shot is to work. Asshown in Figures 1 and 3 the PLD isconfigured to have a latch and an eight-bitbinary up counter which is presettable byinput data to any number less than 256.Since the input data is inverted before it isloaded into the registers, counting from thecomplements of the input to FF will give thecorrect number of counts as counting fromthe input down to 00.
