The  CAT1161/2  is  a  complete  memory  and  supervisorysolution  for  microcontroller-based  systems.  A  serialEEPROM  memory  (16K)  with  hardware  memory  writeprotection,  a  system  power  supervisor  with  brown  outprotection  and  a  watchdog  timer  are  integrated  togetherin  low  power  CMOS  technology.  Memory  interface  is  viaan  I2C  bus.The  1.6-second  watchdog  circuit  returns  a  system  to  aknown  good  state  if  a  software  or  hardware  glitch  haltsor  “hangs”  the  system.  The  CAT1161  watchdog  monitorsthe  SDA  line,  making  an  additional  PC  board  traceunnecessary.  The  lower  cost  CAT1162  does  not  have  awatchdog  timer.
