The  DRV101  is  a  low-side  power  switch  employing  apulse-width  modulated  (PWM)  output.  Its  rugged  designis  optimized  for  driving  electromechanical  devicessuch  as  valves,  solenoids,  relays,  actuators,  andpositioners.  The  DRV101  is  also  ideal  for  drivingthermal  devices  such  as  heaters  and  lamps.  PWMoperation  conserves  power  and  reduces  heat  rise,  resultingin  higher  reliability.  In  addition,  adjustablePWM  allows  fine  control  of  the  power  delivered  to  theload.  Time  from  dc  output  to  PWM  output  is  externallyadjustable.The  DRV101  can  be  set  to  provide  a  strong  initialclosure,  automatically  switching  to  a  “soft”  hold  modefor  power  savings.  Duty  cycle  can  be  controlled  by  aresistor,  analog  voltage,  or  digital-to-analog  converterfor  versatility.  A  flag  output  indicates  thermal  shutdownand  over/under  current  limit.  A  wide  supplyrange  allows  use  with  a  variety  of  actuators.The  DRV101  is  available  in  7-lead  staggered  TO-220package  and  a  7-lead  surface-mount  DDPAK  plasticpower  package.  It  is  specified  over  the  extended  industrialtemperature  range,  –40°C  to  +85°C.
